Frequently Asked Questions
Most of our learners are from Ukraine, but many also come from other countries. All of them have some foundation in English, though their proficiency levels vary.
All sessions are held online. You can use any video call service you prefer, such as Zoom, Google Meet, or Skype. Choose what works best for both you and your students.
Yes, video is required. Using video helps build trust, keeps the sessions engaging, and ensures a safe and effective learning experience for everyone.
When we create mini-groups, we look at a few important things: everyone’s availability, any gender preferences, and shared interests or hobbies to help conversations flow naturally. We also try to match learners with similar English levels so that no one feels left behind or held back.
You can reach out to us anytime by email at tetikst@gmail.com. Whether it’s a question, issue, or suggestion, we’re always happy to hear from you and support you however we can.
No formal teaching experience is required.
If one of your students cannot join the scheduled meeting, feel free to go ahead with the rest of the group. Alternatively, if everyone agrees, you can reschedule for a time that works better.
If a student can no longer continue, we’ll do our best to find a new learner to join your group. We’ll notify you by email when a new participant is available.
We recommend setting up a group chat in a messaging app that’s convenient for all participants (e.g., WhatsApp, Snapchat, Telegram, etc.). If messaging apps aren’t ideal for your group, email is also a good alternative.
It’s completely normal for some learners to feel shy, especially at the beginning. Try to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere by being patient, encouraging, and showing genuine interest in their thoughts. Start with simpler questions or topics they’re comfortable with, and give them extra time to respond without pressure. You can also gently guide the conversation so everyone has a chance to speak. Over time, most students become more confident as they feel supported and heard.
Yes — if there’s a valid reason, you can request to be rematched. Please let us know at least a month in advance so we can ensure a smooth transition and find a new volunteer for your current student.
We understand that things can come up. If your availability changes temporarily or permanently, please communicate with your student(s) and notify the Langum team. We can help reschedule sessions or adjust your match if needed.
Yes! We’re always looking to grow and improve, and feedback from our volunteers is incredibly valuable. If you have suggestions, please don’t hesitate to share them with us via email.
